Professional supervision – Supporting wellbeing at work

The aim of professional supervision is to gain insights and learn from one’s own experiences. In supervision, participants engage in discussion, reflection, and practical exercises related to their core tasks, ways of working, and wellbeing at work. Together, supervision provides a space to develop new and creative approaches to work.

The supervision process provides a safe and supportive space to explore even challenging work-related situations. The content of the discussions arises from the participants’ own needs and goals. Professional supervision is confidential. The duration of the supervision process typically ranges from six months to two years.

At the core of my approach to supervision are dialogue, solution-focused thinking, and a strengths-based perspective. The aim is to strengthen reflective thinking, social skills, interaction, and professional growth.

Professional supervision in practice

Professional supervision can be provided either as individual or group supervision, also remotely. Sessions typically last 90 minutes and are held approximately once a month.

At the beginning, we assess the needs for supervision and jointly set clear goals for the process. We then agree on an initial period of 3–5 sessions, followed by an interim evaluation. Based on this, a decision is made on how to proceed.

Sovulla follows the professional ethical guidelines of the Finnish supervisors' association.

Professional supervision for professional supervisors and workplace mediators

Professional supervision for professional supervisors or workplace mediators provides a calm, dedicated space to reflect on one’s own professional practice. Supervision supports the care of personal resources and the development of professional skills. It can be conducted individually or in groups, either remotely or in person.

During supervision, participants openly and professionally reflect on their work. The professional identity of a professional supervisor or workplace mediator is built upon their own personality and unique approach.

What is Professional Supervision?

Professional supervision is a space for reflecting on your own work and exploring it in a supportive, thoughtful way with a trained supervisor. My role as a supervisor is to support what matters most to you or your team right now.

Are you navigating challenges in managing your workload or time, maintaining well-being, handling changes at work, or improving workplace interactions? Would you like to reflect on your relationship with your work or your team, or explore new directions in your career? Or perhaps you want to relieve stress and strengthen your sense of control and resilience at work? Supervision can help you with all of these.

Supervision is also a tool for growth and development. It can help clarify a team’s or organization’s core mission, enhance work practices, foster a positive work climate, improve collaboration, and support leadership.

From an employer’s perspective, supervision is an investment that pays off through greater employee well-being, improved work processes, and stronger resilience. It is also a valuable resource for entrepreneurs who want to develop their professional identity and long-term business goals.

Single session Consultation

Impactful conversation – sometimes one session is enough

Are you looking for clarity, direction, or concrete next steps in a situation that’s on your mind?
Single session consulting  is a conversational service offered by Sovulla, designed to provide as much benefit as possible in just one meeting.

  • Single session Consultation is right for you if

    • you want to pause and focus on something important without a long-term commitment
    • you need clarity, support for decision-making, or a fresh perspective
    • you value an efficient, humane, and strengths-based conversation
    • you’re not sure whether you need longer-term support — or you know that you don’t, at least right now

Often, a single well-focused conversation can be enough to set change in motion.

  • What is Single session Consultation about?

Single session therapy is a research-based approach originating from the fields of coaching and therapy. Its core idea is simple but powerful: each session is planned as if it were the only one.

This doesn’t mean you can’t have multiple sessions — rather, it means the focus is immediately on what matters most:

    • what is most important to you right now
    • the strengths and solutions you already have at your disposal
    • the concrete outcomes that can emerge from this conversation

By not relying on a long-term process, your energy is directed efficiently toward moving forward.

  • Why can a single session be surprisingly effective?

In traditional, longer-term processes, work often progresses step by step. Single session therapy takes a different approach: maximizing benefit while minimizing strain.

    Single session therapy:

    • saves time, money, and mental energy
    • strengthens your sense of agency and self-confidence
    • highlights what is already working
    • helps you take the next realistic step

Many clients experience single session therapy as light yet profound — a conversation that continues to resonate in everyday life long after the session ends.

  • Background and Research Basis

Single session therapy is an internationally recognized and researched approach. It was developed primarily in mental health work in Australia and North America, and it is now spreading to Europe and Finland.

Today, single-session approaches are applied not only in therapy but also in various coaching and guidance contexts (single session thinking, single session mindset). The model is grounded in a sustainable and holistic understanding of people: the idea that individuals already possess many strengths and skills, which can be brought to light in the right kind of conversation.

  • How does a Single session Consultation meeting work?

    Single session therapy is:

    • confidential
    • calm and present
    • clearly structured, yet based on your needs

    During the session:

    • we clarify together what is most important to discuss right now
    • we pause to explore your strengths, hopes, and possibilities
    • we identify concrete insights or next steps

You don’t need to prepare in any special way or know in advance whether “this is the right service” for you. It’s enough that something is calling you to pause and reflect.

  • Who is Single session Consultation for?

Single session therapy is suitable for both individuals and workplace situations, for example:

    • when facing stress, change, or conflicts
    • to clarify decisions and direction
    • in work, everyday life, or relationship challenges
    • in situations where you want to be heard and understood

Single session therapy can also serve as a helpful first experience with coaching or conversational support.
